Solve a number of business issues with the Adaptive Arts product suite

Adaptive Arts helps to solve many business issues, such as those listed below. By implementing a program of continuous improvement, the Adaptive Arts products can be applied more strategically so that you can be more agile to meet future business challenges, compliance requirements and additional opportunities.

This may involve a tactical response to a business issue or a more strategic solution. With Adaptive Arts, even tactical solutions can contribute strategically. The business processes which are modelled to assist in compliance can then be used in a Process Improvement Program or can be considered for Business Process Outsourcing. Why would you undertake an exercise as an overhead when it could be contributing to the greater understanding of the organisation?

This knowledge can be considered in the context of an Enterprise Architecture and the following diagram by Paul Harmon, Founder and Executive Editor of Business Process Trends (www.bptrends.com) encapsulates these ideas in his January 2004 newsletter titled Enterprise Architectures. Whilst the enterprise architecture implies a complete understanding of the organisation is required, this is not necessarily the case. In fact, most of our customers do not start with a top-down approach. They may have a particular business issue they are trying to resolve and will start by modeling that specific business process and everything they know about it. Some may start by examining their IT systems and determining who is involved with these and how they are used.

Some specific business issues which can be assisted by this approach are:

  • Business Process Management

Adaptive Arts assist organisations implement BPM by determining which processes need improvement and modification. This is achieved through mapping business processes and building a model of the organisation and the relationships between people, roles, processes and functions, information requirements and IT systems.

  • Mergers and Acquisition

How can you merge organisations, functions, roles and processes without a clear understanding of the relationships between them? Adaptive Arts can help by building a model of the organisations and providing comprehensive analysis capabilities to determine how the organisations can be more effectively combined.

  • Business Process Outsourcing

There is a trend to outsource IT or various business processes to specialist organisations that can provide superior service more responsively at lower cost. Whilst benefits may indeed be achieved in the actual conduct of the business processes, there is often much greater overhead placed on the business in managing the contracts and relationships. By mapping the processes and building a Model of the organisation, the business processes to be outsourced can be more clearly defined and the related processes and people interacting with these processes can be identified and modified.

  • Compliance

Adaptive Arts provides the ability to link all business processes back to corporate strategy and objectives. The processes are also related to the information usage and IT systems. The models which contain the relationships can be traversed to determine the source of information and the business processes which contribute.

  • Technology and Round-Trip Engineering

Adaptive Arts supports the development of IT applications by translating models into source code in a number of languages. This allows initial requirements to be accurately translated into applications, which are further enhanced in the application development environment. Alternatively, the application source code can be reverse engineered into the Modeler, allowing developers and analysts to gain a higher level understanding of the applications and the business rules.

  • Process Improvement

Adaptive Arts assists organisations to develop process models by mapping business processes. This activity in itself can identify improvements. Further modelling and investigation of roles and simulation of potential changes provides the capability to model changes and determine their impact before they are implemented.

  • Gupta / Centura conversion to .NET

Adaptive Arts has extensive experience in the development of component-based applications using the Gupta and Centura development products. Through arrangement with the Ice Tea Group, Adaptive Arts can now offer a conversion service to take applications into a pure Microsoft .NET environment by converting the source code to C#, whilst preserving application structure and functionality.
